Private Dog Training with Lori Hamilton:
Private Dog Training: Are one-on-one lessons with Lori. Typically her clients have come to her after showing unwanted behavior, such as dog aggression, barking at people or dogs, pulling on the leash, jumping and anxiety. Basically, the dogs are out of control and the owners feel helpless to the correct the behavior. These same dogs have gone through some level of basic dog training (sit, stay down, come). The problem is they will only listen to their owners when they have food or the privacy of the home or backyard. These same dogs will not listen to their owners in real life situations, such as walking the dog in public areas, going to dog-friendly events or family outings. These same dogs who were purchased to become part of the "family" have now become a hindrance. Owners become overwhelmed and embarrassed of the lack of control they have over their dog(s)/puppy.
So the solution..dog training takes place in a high level of distraction (strollers, bikes, kids playing, dogs, etc.) to empower her clients with the tools and knowledge to make appropriate corrections/praise when needed. She provides step-by-step guides for the owners to work through bad behavior (this may also include working on issues at the home, if needed.) and helps to replace the owner as the leader of the pack. Dog training lessons usually last 45 minutes, always stopping the lesson on a positive note. It is more important for the owner to understand the information in order to progressively move the dog forward. Sessions are purchased in packs of 8 weeks.
